NALS...the association for legal professionals, began in 1929 as the National Association of Legal Secretaries. A young legal secretary, Eula May Jett, in Long Beach, California, was encouraged by a court clerk to talk with other legal secretaries about correct preparation of legal documents. As a result of that challenge, NALS was formed. Today, NALS is a tri-level organization with membership available in local chapters and state associations nationwide.

NALS of Michigan was chartered in 1961, consists of eleven local chapters and is a part of Region 3.
Quarterly business and educational meetings are held in the fall, winter, spring and summer at the State Bar Building, 306 Townsend Street, Lansing, Michigan
